About Dar Al Shifa Hospital

In 1963, Dar Al Shifa Hospital (DASH) was established as the first private hospital in the State of Kuwait. Originally, it was a maternity hospital located in Sharq, Kuwait city. Since that time, the hospital became a leading healthcare organization in the region.

In 2003, shift in location allowed for an increase in both the inpatient beds and the outpatient clinics and eventually boosted the capacity to serve a wider segment of the population.

• Responsible for running initiation protocols, calibration protocols, bi/tri level-controls on various laboratory analyzers at scheduled time prior to running patient samples
• Performs daily maintenance of machines and logging in the appropriate logs.
• Carries duties in all general laboratory sections including biochemistry, hematology, clinical pathology, blood banking, and hormone units.
• Reconstitutes reagents, loads them to the analyzers and maintains the log for date of opening of new reagents.
• Checksthe stock and expiry dates of laboratory reagents.
• Proper preparation of patient samples and running the test protocols.
• Validates patient results, after applying the required checks
• Verifies internal QC by checking Levey Jennings charts.
• Runs external proficiency testing samples and shares in investigating causes for unaccepted results.
• Prepares SOP for different laboratory processes.
• Follows the bloodbank policy and required documentations for receiving and issuing blood and blood products
• Prepares samples for shipment to outside laboratories for tests not performed locally.
• Prepares different types of smears and wet mounts

Main Duties and Responsibilities/Performance Standards

• Serves food and beverages to patient, patient’s family and visitors daily for all meals. (Takes the menu, communicates to kitchen, delivers the food, arranges, sets up and clears the table).
• Communicates patients and companion’s food likes, dislikes and allergies accurately to the kitchen & ensure kitchen compliance before service.
• Maintains Royal & Imperial Rooms’ inventory which is required to check after each discharge.
• Cleans & sanitizes food & beverage service utensils after patients or family use and after room discharge.
• Ensures complementary services are delivered to patient’s room. 
• Responds promptly, appropriately, and professionally to patient/family perceptions of and needs for care and services.
• Responds to requests for information promptly and refers the patient/family’s concern to appropriate hospital personnel immediately.
• Act fast and take ownership for guests complain.
• Communicates the patient’s need for assistance to nurses in need of moving out of bed to prevent accidents or transport non-ambulatory patient with wheelchair.

• Responsible for Sperm freezing and thawing.
• Evaluates sperm morphology.
• Ensures proper labeling for all samples for processing.
• Responsible for sperm wash techniques (Swim-up and Density gradient) for Intrauterine Insemination (IUI).
• Assists in Testicular Sperm Retrieval procedure.
• Responsible for Sperm sample preparation of TESA and TESE and their freezing and thawing.
• Evaluates integrity of Culture media.
• Responsible to do the census of Supplies and Consumables (weekly and monthly).
• Responsible to do the data entry for IVF /Andrology results.
• Follow up the freezing samples for Embryos and Sperm (like renewal or discarding and daily checking LN2 levels for storage tanks).

• يقوم بإجراء الصيانة اليومية للآلات وتسجيلها في السجلات المناسبة.
• يتولى مهام في جميع أقسام المختبر العامة بما في ذلك الكيمياء الحيوية وأمراض الدم وعلم الأمراض السريرية وبنوك الدم ووحدات الهرمونات.
• يقوم بإعادة تكوين الكواشف، ويحملها إلى المحللات ويحتفظ بسجل لتاريخ فتح الكواشف الجديدة.

• يقوم بإبلاغ المرضى والمرافقين بالأطعمة المفضلة لديهم وغير المفضلة والحساسية بدقة إلى المطبخ والتأكد من امتثال المطبخ قبل الخدمة.
• صيانة مخزون الغرف الملكية والإمبراطورية والذي يتعين التحقق منه بعد كل عملية خروج.
• يقوم بتنظيف وتعقيم أدوات تقديم الأطعمة والمشروبات بعد استخدام المرضى أو أفراد الأسرة لها وبعد خروجهم من الغرفة.
• ضمان تقديم الخدمات التكميلية إلى غرفة المريض.

• ينقل حاجة المريض للمساعدة إلى الممرضات اللاتي يحتاجن إلى الخروج من السرير لمنع الحوادث أو نقل المريض غير القادر على الحركة باستخدام الكرسي المتحرك.
