Dasman Diabetes Institute (DDI) was established under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmed Al Sabah, the late Amir of the State of Kuwait, and the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) to combat the prevalence of diabetes in Kuwait.
Since its inauguration in 2006 by His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Sabah (the late Amir of the State of Kuwait), the Institute has strived to address the diabetes epidemic in Kuwait through focused diabetes research, integrated prevention, training, and education.
Through its Sectors, DDI aims to create a platform that applies its knowledge from basic sciences to clinical trial point of care applications, scientific findings, and drug discoveries, or from bench-to-bed.
Our Operations Sector manages service performance, technological proficiency, data management, and employee performance to achieve organizational transformation and financial sustainability.
Our Research Sector applies knowledge and expertise to further understand diabetes in the Arab population and improve health outcomes. By identifying gene variants, clinically relevant biomarkers, dietary components, and other risk factors, we strive to define new medical approaches to diabetes care.
Our Medical Sector utilizes the highest standards of medical care and the latest research findings to tackle all aspects of diabetes prevention, treatment, and management.
WE ARE HIRING
Phlebotomist - Clinical Laboratory
- Proper vein identification
- Adhere to lab safety and quality control measures
- Ability to use Laboratory Information System
- Verifies the electronic test ordered in the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and proper labeling of samples with the generated barcodes
- Carry out lab reception work, send out samples, and assist in placing reagents and supplies request and arranging the received items
- Draw blood from patients of different age group in the correct collection tubes and containers
- Proper practice in case of emergency (fainting and bleeding)
- Alerts the technician and lab receptionist about urgent specimens
- Perform the required duties for POCT (Point Of Care Testing)
- Answers phone calls inquiries
- Proper identification for each lab request
- Work in accordance to the Standard Operating Procedures of DDI Clinical Laboratory
- Maintain confidentiality of patient results or identity
- Ensure that no record/result is utilized or leaves the lab without an authorized reason
- Perform other related duties as assigned by Head of Unit

Dietitian- Kuwaiti Nationals - Nutrition
- Assess patients’ nutritional needs, develop, and implement therapeutic diets, evaluate and report results.
- Confer with physicians and other health care providers to coordinate the medical and nutritional needs of patients.
- Counsel individuals, groups, family members and caretakers on nutritional practices designed to prevent disease and promote good health.
- Run a nutrition clinic 5 days a week.
- Run nutrition clinics in the evening hours as needed.
- Conduct 24 hour recalls for all patients and enter them into Nutritics on baseline and/or frequently as needed with once a year follow up as minimum.
- Plan and implement education sessions on a variety of topics.
- Deliver nutrition lectures and workshops for healthcare providers (physicians, dietitians, and nurses) and students.
- Plan and develop evidence-based nutrition educational materials and promotion materials.
- Assist in supervising cooking classes when required.
- Assist in research activities and recruitment for research studies, including proposal writing, data collection, analysis, and report writing.
- Assist in developing and implementing departmental projects or services and carrying out departmental duties as assigned and agreed upon.
- Assist in developing innovative and creative intervention nutrition programs.
- Take part in outreach and in-house activities.
- Take part in media activities including TV, Radio, social media, Newspaper etc.....
- Present at conferences and/or workshops and submit for publication articles and papers, whenever possible.
- Adhere to all Dasman Diabetes Institute related policies, standards, procedures and safety measures.
