Media Analyst
The Media Analysts will ensure observation, detection, monitoring, assessment and reporting on elements of disinformation and FIMI, offering:
- Solid situational awareness
- A thorough understanding of the actors, behaviors and content as well as the causes, triggers, opportunities and possible action to tackle the FIMI / disinformation incidents
- The consequences for the EU’s ability to implement its policies and actions, including communication on the EU brand.
- This is done by observing, assessing and researching the local information environments (on- and offline), by placing a lens on elements/indicators of foreign (and when relevant domestic) malign manipulation of the information environment, and the local vulnerabilities, actors, drivers and resistors.
- The Media Analysts are expected to deliver regular reports based on the collected/processed observations and their analysis. In addition, monitoring and reporting on certain dedicated events/situations/trends will be requested on a regular basis.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Solid experience working in/on the media sector or political analysis in/on the countries and/or regions covered notably on the information environment and Disinformation / FIMI
- Strong analytical skills (notably Public Available Information, including OSINT Analysis),
- Solid understanding of national and/or regional politics
- Strong English and/or French (according to contexts) drafting skills, with ideally also knowledge/notions of local spoken languages
- Previous experience on social media platform influence measurement, especially in Africa would be an asset
- Previous experience working for an international organization also constitutes an asset
- Ability to handle sensitive information
