Executive Director, Finance
Job Summary
- We are looking for a strategic Executive Director of Finance who is passionate about developing a deep understanding of the business and using data to inform key business initiatives and decisions.
- The Executive Director – Finance will analyze everyday finance activities and subsequently provide advice and guidance to upper management on future finance plans with the goal of enabling the company’s leaders to make sound business decisions and meet the company’s objectives.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of finance operations, including financial planning and analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, and ad hoc projects and requests as they arise.
- Provide finance reports and interpret finance information for managerial staff while recommending further courses of action.
- Ensures business processes, administration, and financial management.
- Drive the continuous development of end-to-end accounting practices across all financial staff members.
- Oversee the effective utilization of the accounting system in the company.
- Lead the planning and forecasting activities with business partners to achieve business and company goals.
- Analyzing costs, pricing, variable contributions, sales results, and the company’s actual performance compared to the business plans.
- Develop trends and projections for the organization's finances
- Oversee the operations of the finance department, set goals and objectives, and design a framework for these to be met.
- Oversee the maintenance of an accurate filing and record-keeping system for all financial statements and company documents.
- Participate in the execution of changes to procedures, policies, and systems to facilitate expansion, compliance, and scaling of the business.
- Manage the preparation of the company’s budget.
- Liaise with auditors to ensure the appropriate monitoring of company finances is maintained.
- Correspond with various other departments, discussing company plans and agreeing on future paths to be taken.
- Continuously look for ways to improve organizational procedures and controls.
- Keep abreast of changes in financial regulations and legislation.
- Oversee all treasury and cash management activities.
- Ensure proper cash flow management and timely settlement of vendor payments.
Professional Experience and Skills Requirement
- 10+ years of finance work experience, 5+ years of which in a managerial role.
- Demonstrated strategic planning experience at a management level
- Experience in the financial services sector, Fintech experience is highly advantageous.
- Extensive understanding of finance trends both within the company and general market patterns
- Ability to manage, guide and lead employees to ensure appropriate finance processes are being used.
- A solid understanding of finance statistics and accounting principles
- Ability to delegate and manage the work of the team
- Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations
- Strong technical accounting knowledge
- Experience in creating statutory accounts
- Good level of communication, problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
- Great attention to detail
- Proficiency in the use of accounting software, such as QuickBooks or SAP
- AP and AR experience
- Experience in overseeing the annual audit.
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics.
- Professional qualification such as CFA/CPA or similar will be considered an advantage.
