As a Field Service Engineer, you'll be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting ADD instruments as well as ensuring customer satisfaction within a given area. You will work in a defined territory and take on extra projects within the service organization as requested by the Service Manager.
You should have knowledge of biomedical instruments and their functionality and be able to demonstrate all operational capabilities of the instruments. You will also be responsible for achieving the Service Sales Target as assigned.
What You'll Do:
- Represent Abbott in a professional manner at all times to develop and preserve favorable customer relationships and achieve customer satisfaction.
- Support the service team and ensure success by coaching and counseling them.
- Perform emergency repairs and preventative maintenance at customer sites.
- Perform modifications and engineering updates at customer sites.
- Provide customers with instructions on changing instrument parts and applying instrument-related software.
- Prioritize service calls within your assigned area.
- Prepare detailed documentation of each service call and sell service agreement renewals.
- Troubleshoot problems related to the instrument, operator, and applications.
- Identify situations creating customer dissatisfaction and implement corrective actions to resolve them.
- Implement major product upgrades for your assigned product group.
- Act as Technical Coordinator and Advisor for a specific product group.
- Monitor spare parts usage and inventory for your product according to Abbott standards.
- Generate ideas and action plans to improve the Service department and customer satisfaction.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience in troubleshooting and customer contact is advantageous.
- Knowledge of the diagnostics market, electronics, mechanics, and chemistry is required.
