Al-Farwaniya Hospital
ICU started in Farwaniya hospital in 1981 by six beds. It was located in the first floor beside the MOT in the present PACU recovery room. ↔️
One bed was isolation room out of the total capcity. In 2000, Four beds added to the capacity to make a total ten beds. The extension was located in the place of OR 1 and 2 in the Main OR. In 2005, a multidisciplinary ICU organized under the department of anesthesia.
ICU-1 situated in the first floor of the hospital near the surgical wards. It consisted of 17 ICU beds in the same area, flexible curtains separate beds. Two of these beds are regarded as isolation beds in two district rooms. Rooms are surrounded by visitors’ corridor.
ICU-2 was constructed in the year of 2009. It was situated in the first floor of the new building of the hospital.
ICU-2 was consisted of 18 ICU beds; 10 beds of them are placed in five rooms with two bed in each room and 6 beds in separate rooms and two isolation beds in two district rooms separated from the other room by automatic glass door. In 2022 the New Hospital is anticipated to be open with a modern ICU.

About the job
Are you passionate about pediatric care and sleep medicine? Farwaniya Hospital, Kuwait, is seeking a skilled and dedicated Sleep Technologist to join our Pediatric Sleep Lab team. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a leading healthcare facility committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered care in pediatric sleep medicine.
Position: Sleep Technologist (Pediatric Sleep Lab)
Location: Farwaniya Hospital, Kuwait
Type: Full-Time
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct overnight polysomnographic tests (sleep studies) on pediatric patients, ensuring accurate and precise data collection. This includes diagnostic testing, split night studies, titration studies (CPAP, BiPAP, and trach and vent).
- Prepare and calibrate sleep diagnostic equipment prior to each study and monitor patient signals during sleep tests.
- Monitor and record patient’s physiological activities, such as EEG, EOG, EMG, ECG, respiratory events, and oxygen saturation levels.
- Conduct multiple sleep latency testing (MSLT).
- Assist in scoring sleep stages and events, ensuring adherence to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) scoring guidelines.
- Provide patient education and support, explaining the procedure and addressing concerns of patients and families.
- Troubleshoot technical issues with sleep equipment and sensors to ensure accurate data collection.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to interpret sleep studies and develop treatment plans.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for pediatric patients throughout their stay in the sleep lab.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in respiratory therapy with a good GPA.
- Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) certification is required.
- Knowledge of pediatric sleep disorders, sleep study protocols, and sleep scoring methodologies.
- Strong technical skills with experience in using polysomnographic equipment and software.
- Ability to work night shifts and adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with pediatric patients and their families.

المؤهلات:
- درجة بكاليوس في العلاج التنفسي مع معدل جيد.
- شهادة أخصائي تخطيط النوم المعتمد (RPSGT) مطلوبة.
- معرفة باضطرابات نوم الأطفال، وبروتوكولات دراسات النوم، وأساليب تصنيف النوم.
- مهارات تقنية قوية مع خبرة في استخدام معدات وبرامج تخطيط النوم.
- القدرة على العمل في نوبات ليلية والتكيف مع بيئة ديناميكية وسريعة الوتيرة.
- مهارات اتصال شخصية ممتازة، مع القدرة على العمل مع المرضى الأطفال وعائلاتهم.
