Job Title: Fire Control & Optics Repairman
Job Overview
As a WAN Engineer, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining the WAN infrastructure, ensuring stability, troubleshooting, and optimizing a geographically dispersed Wide Area Network. You will work with expert-level Cisco routers, switches, VPN devices, and routing protocols. You will also oversee network performance and compliance while ensuring security and efficiency across all systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Configuration: Maintain and configure routers and switches (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, MPLS, DMVPN, etc.) throughout Southwest Asia.
Troubleshooting & Optimization: Identify network issues, perform troubleshooting for DMVPN phases 1-3, and optimize network performance.
Compliance & Security: Ensure all technologies comply with DISA STIGs and security standards. Help investigate malicious activity.
Monitoring & Maintenance: Use tools like DX NetOps Spectrum, SolarWinds Orion, and Cisco DNA Center to monitor WAN infrastructure.
Documentation: Maintain detailed network diagrams and documentation; track network issues using ServiceNow.
Capacity Planning: Support capacity planning for voice, data, and video communications.
Additional Duties: Other responsibilities as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications:
Security Clearance: Active Secret Clearance required.
Education: Associates Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Substitution available for academic study.
Certifications: Must meet DoD 8570.01M, maintaining at least one baseline and one CE certification:
Baseline Certifications: CCNP, CASP+ ce, GIAC GCED, CISSP (or Associate), etc.
CE Certifications: Cisco CCNP Enterprise, Cisco CCIE, etc.
Additional certifications in Python, Ansible scripting, and DevNet are a plus.
Experience: At least 10 years of practical experience with network and systems technologies, including TCP/IP, VRF, MPLS, VPN technologies, and troubleshooting complex network issues.
Skills & Technology: Strong troubleshooting skills, experience with Cisco DNA Center, and the ability to manage network requirements, documentation, and configuration policies.
